The School of Environmental Studies is a District 196 magnet high school for juniors and seniors ready for something more. Located on the Minnesota Zoo campus, SES combines hands-on learning, field studies, meaningful projects, and a close-knit school community where students connect their passions to the world around them.
Applications for the next school year open in October. Interested in joining SES sooner? We may consider mid-year transfers as space allows.

When it comes to high school science projects, few reach the heights achieved by a group of students at the School of Environmental Studies (SES), a District 196 magnet school for high school juniors and seniors.
Competing in NASA’s prestigious TechRise Student Challenge, these ambitious students spent months designing, coding, and building a custom experiment that will be sent soaring into microgravity.
