AP Human Geography - Grade 12

Social Studies for 11th and 12th grade is part of the thematic studies sequence of courses. This Advanced Placement course is taken in conjunction with the Thematic Studies Social Studies class in 12th grade.

The purpose of this course in Human Geography is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of the Earth’s surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to analyze human social organiza- tion and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the use and the methods and tools of geographic analysis. Students may choose to take the optional advanced placement exam at their own expense.

Prerequisite: Strong background in social studies
