Language Arts - Grade 12

The English element of the Thematic Studies (House) course will continue to develop critical reading, thinking, and literary analysis skills. Students will interpret and respond to significant literary works from a variety of genres including: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and drama. As seniors, students will continue to expand their skills in narrative, persuasive, and scientific writing. Advanced public speaking skills include storytelling, discussion, professional interviewing and debate, are highlighted at various points throughout the year.

As closure to an intensive, full year investigation of the environmental issues that face our global population, SES seniors will have the opportunity to explore their own role as environmental leaders. Through a variety of individual and group activities and projects, the SES graduate will have the knowledge and skills necessary to model sustainable action as members of local, national, and global community.
