Social Studies - Grade 12

Social Studies - Grade 12

The Social Studies element of the Thematic Studies (House) course focuses on the integration and application of the social sciences. Students will move beyond identifying and analyzing environmental issues to actually crafting strategies for sustainable living. The skills and concepts of sociology, anthropology, economics, political science, and psychology will serve as lenses to clarify the social dynamics of human communities. As they complete their focus on environmental challenges, students will emphasize the importance of economic and political awareness for effective leadership.

As closure to an intensive, full year investigation of the environmental issues that face our global population, SES seniors will have the opportunity to explore their own role as environmental leaders. Through a variety of individual and group activities and projects, the SES graduate will have the knowledge and skills necessary to model sustainable action as members of local, national, and global community.
