This class weaves together science, health, and social justice.
The environment we live in affects our physical and mental health. In this class, we’ll learn about the specific ways our health can be affected positively or negatively, how and why those environmental burdens and benefits are inequitably distributed across communities, and how communities and young activists are fighting back and making a difference. In class, we’ll do everything from conducting science experiments and growing plants, to meeting with guest speakers and going on field trips, to doing deep dives in environmental justice case studies, to taking our own actions.
Special note: Students may take this course for the whole year, or join just for Trimester 3.
